Located in the charming mountain town of Guadalupe and extending up inside Volcan Baru National Park, Los Quetzales Lodge and Spa has rightly earned its reputation as one of the most special places to visit in Panama. This stunning Eco-lodge offers everything for the discerning nature lover from comfortable friendly accommodations in Guadalupe to serenely isolated mountain cabin retreats.
Los Quetzales, named after the incredibly colourful bird, sits at an elevation of 2,200 meters (7260 ft) above sea level making it the highest hotel accommodation in Panama. The cool but comfortable temperature of this tropical cloud forest creates the perfect escape from the heat and humidity of the lowlands. It also has created a special eco-system which is home to many varieties of birds and animals unique to this region. In keeping with the spirit of its surroundings Los Quetzales has built their lodge to minimize their impact on this special place without sacrificing the comforts of their guests.

A variety of accommodations have been thoughtfully built around the main lodge. Budget travellers and backpackers, can choose between one of the single-sex or mixed 7-bed dorms located either near the lodge or 30 minutes up in the cloud forest. The mixed dorm has a fully equipped kitchen and all dorms feature a natural wood interior with skylights, hot water equipped private bathrooms, security lockers, and a fat porch with comfy chairs and hammocks. Standard rooms offer a queen-zed or two double beds, hot water shower, seating area, shelving and closets. The Deluxe room is slightly larger and equipped with a bathtub. All Standard and Deluxe rooms are located in a garden setting next the river so you can enjoy the beauty of nature while listening to the soothing sounds of water flowing by. Near by there are five Junior and Master suites which offer fireplaces and kitchenettes. Junior suites are larger versions of the Deluxe suites while Master suites offer separate living and bedrooms with a balconies overlooking the river. If you’d prefer to sleep even closer to nature, you can stay at one of the Swiss-style lodges built one and a half kilometers from the lodge on the border of two parks. These comfortable lodges nestled among the trees and overlooking the river offer a serene setting for romantic retreats or nature watching. Each stunning chalet offers exposed beam-work, hardwood floors, spacious airy bedroom, gas lanterns, fully equipped kitchen, country-style dining area, living area, wood stove, and private bathrooms with hot water. The chalets also features tons of large windows and a large deck. Transportation to the lodge is provided and it is possible to arrange both prepared and unprepared food delivery. With the exception of the Chalets, all accommodations, including dorm rooms offer free wireless internet.

Pristine, untouched, nature isn’t the only reason to stay at Los Quetzales. The lodge also offers a gourmet restaurant run by Chef Carlos Andres and full service spa. An American-style breakfast is included with your accommodations while savoury a-la-cart creations, including many vegetarian options are available for lunch and dinner.
There are a range of activities and tours to help fill your day. In the main building you’ll find ping pong, foosball, board games and a library. Los Quetzales offers a range of bilingual guided tours from one hour easy walks to 6 day very difficult hiking excursions.
