Colon is a beautiful province, with a rich history and many fun day trips to be had in and around the area. For those wishing to spend some time in the province, most hotel options are limited to Isla Grande and Portobelo. Surrounded by rain forest, mangrove orchards, picturesque private islands, and clear blue waters, Isla Grande is the best choice and by far most popular choice for overnighting. That being said, don’t expect resort like conditions there. Most choices on the island are laid back and loose with moderate service and somewhat rustic accommodations by Western standards. Still, Isla Grande is a spectacular destination, with hiking trails, a historic lighthouse, virtually deserted beaches, and filled with that warm friendly island charm.

We’ll be adding more hotels here soon. Keep in mind that travellers preferences and experiences vary so when choosing your accommodations in Colon always do your research to find the destination that best meets your expectations. Feel free to contact us to ask about any property whether its featured here or not. We never charge a fee for our services and you get honest opinions. Also send us your reviews so we can pass along the info to other travellers.

Hotels on Isla Grande

Colon Bananas Village Resort Isla GrandeBanana’s Village Resort is set just back from the water’s edge on Isla Grande. While the resort has 34 rooms it never feels crowded and there is no shortage of equipment for water activities. While Banana’s is called a resort it definitely has that rustic island charm so don’t expect the Ritz or the Decameron. The pool is a nice relaxing place to chill and catch some rays but the beach is just steps away and the ocean is always calm, clear, and inviting. The restaurant serves up delicious Panamanian seafood and also offers some International fare. Breakfast is included as is the water equipment. Rates are $140 for rooms $190 for the suite.
